Strange Rare Peculiar | Hosts: Denise Straiges & Alastair Gray
When you’re working with a homeopath, how do you know you’re moving toward a higher level of health—and not just spinning your wheels?
It’s hard to tell when the internet is flooded with miracle cures, blanket protocols, and “clears” that make big promises.
In this episode of Strange Rare Peculiar, Denise Straiges and Alastair Gray cut through the noise. This is the third in a series covering case analysis, case management, and now—the big one—expectations and outcomes.
What does real healing actually look like and what should you expect?

What’s Inside
Denise and Alastair trace the idea of healing back to Hahnemann’s own words, starting with the footnote to Aphorism 1, where Hahnemann warns against physicians who spin “empty conceits and hypotheses” while “a sick world sighs in vain for help.” That tension—between theoretical systems and actual results—is still alive in homeopathy today.
From there, the episode covers:
- Realistic expectations with acute vs. chronic disease
- An case of a young client with three diagnoses who, after years of steady improvement, suddenly faced a year of intense acutes. Was it regression or a new level of health?
- The miasmatic context — how Hahnemann’s understanding of syphilis shaped his theory of chronic disease, and why “clears” and tautopathy aren’t the answer
- What healing actually looks like
