In Episode 116 of Strange, Rare & Peculiar, Denise Straiges and Alastair Gray begin with a few listener messages before recapping the final Joint American Homeopathy Conference (JAHC).
They reflect on their two JAHC presentations: Alastair’s research workshop with Rachel Doherty and Christine Luketic on AI in homeopathy, and Denise’s talk on autoimmune disease, chronic disease, and why modern medicine may be coming full circle in its understanding of illness.
From there, the conversation moves into the bigger question:
What is homeopathy, really?
Is it the little white pills, the dynamized substance, or the medicine and the principles working together?
Denise and Alastair explore why autoimmune and chronic disease challenge a purely reductionist “kill the bug” approach, why germ theory only takes us so far, and why Hahnemann’s work on chronic disease still matters today.
They also discuss how a well-selected remedy may meet the disease pattern—not by simply taking something away, but by helping give energy back toward life and vitality.
This episode is part JAHC recap, part reflection on the future of medicine, and part deeper look at autoimmunity, chronic disease, germ theory, and what homeopathy asks us to understand.
