SRP Podcast Episode 91: Can AI Replace Your Homeopath? What Every Homeopathy User Needs to Know

Artificial Intelligence is everywhere—including homeopathy. Type your symptoms into ChatGPT, and you might get a list of remedies within seconds. But should you trust it?

In the latest episode of Strange, Rare, and Peculiar“A.I. & The Future of Professional Homeopathy with Rachel Doherty”—Denise Straiges, Alastair Gray, and researcher Rachel Doherty unpack what AI can (and can’t) do for homeopathy. And the results might surprise you.

AI vs. Real Homeopaths: The Numbers Don’t Lie

Rachel and the HOHM/IAH Research team tested AI by plugging real acute cases into both a remedy-finder software and large language models like ChatGPT.

The overlap between what AI recommended and what a professional homeopath prescribed?

✅ The purpose-built remedy-finder software matched the homeopath’s top recommendation just 17% of the time.
✅ Large language models often gave different answers every time you asked—even when the case notes stayed the same.

As Rachel explains, AI doesn’t understand remedy relationships, posology, or case management. It can sound convincing, but it doesn’t always know the basics:

“There have been times when the AI told me thick yellow snot wasn’t a keynote for Pulsatilla. It just doesn’t know some things.”

Why This Matters for Home Users

Many people already self-prescribe remedies at home—and it works beautifully for simple, acute issues like bee stings or bruises. But as Denise warns, repeated self-prescribing can quickly backfire:

“Poor prescribing, overprescribing, continual prescribing of inappropriate remedies has the potential to yield an outcome that’s not what you want.”

The Future of AI & Homeopathy

So, can AI help at all? Yes—but only as a tool, not a replacement. Rachel suggests it could one day improve acute prescribing if we build models trained on real-world homeopathy data. But for chronic conditions or complex cases? We’re not even close.

“Chronic homeopathy prescribing by AI would require an amount of personal private data that I don’t think people are ready to give up.”

This episode goes deep into AI, homeopathy research, and what it really takes to work through chronic cases successfully.
